Meet the team

Fawz Farhan
Co-founder and Director of Mediapharm. Fawz is a pharmacist who has worked in both community and hospital pharmacy and in academia. Fawz was Technical Editor at Chemist & Druggist, looking after education and training projects, before moving to set up Mediapharm with Paul Lowndes. Her writing has been widely published in several of the pharmacy magazines and she still holds a visiting lecturer post in pharmacy practice at King’s College London, a post she has held since 1999.

Paul Lowndes
Co-founder and Director of Mediapharm. Paul’s background is in commercial development in pharmacy and GP markets.  Whilst working at C&D he gained an insight into the changes in pharmacy policy and the commercial implications for healthcare companies and pharmacy retailers. As well having a background in commercial development, Paul has written and co-authored a number of published presentations and articles on the new pharmacy contract, and pharmacy’s ever-growing and evolving role in healthcare.

Monica Bernal-Quiroz
Armed with a wealth of industry knowledge and contacts, Monica joined Mediapharm as Business Development Manager in 2006. Prior to that, she worked at Pharmacy Business for seven years as Associate Publisher.  Whilst there Monica helped establish the Pharmacy Business Awards in 2001 - the most prestigious awards in the UK’s pharmaceutical calendar.

Manisha Israel
Manisha started out as a community pharmacist at Boots and then worked as a locum for independents before moving to the Pharmaceutical Journal where she worked as a staff editor specialising in clinical. She also worked at the PJ’s sister publication Pharmacy Assistant before moving to work as Assistant Editor at Pharmacy Magazine and then Editor at Pharmacy Business. She has extensive experience in new media.   

Maria Murray
Experienced pharmacist and writer whose career has spanned pharmacy magazines (she was Assistant Editor at Chemist & Druggist and Editor of OTC magazine), online pharmacy portals and medical education agencies. More recently she has held positions within the Department of Health, the Modernisation Agency and NHS Trusts, giving a unique insight into the workings of the healthcare service and the role of pharmacy within it. Her speciality is support staff training and the NHS.

Ben Schlaepfer
Web specialist with 10 years’experience in user-centered electronic channel design and development. Having worked in a broad range of sectors including pharmacy, finance, media and local government, Ben has delivered services via the internet, intranets, digital TV, and mobile devices. Previous projects include website definition, design and build for Barclays PLC; Dacorum Borough Council; Essex County Fire & Rescue, and Sky Television. 

Laura Tulloch
Communications manager with a background in both pharmacy, and financial services. Laura was one of the founding employees of Pharmalife, a pharmacy-news-and-trading website.  Since then, Laura worked at JPMorgan Asset Management between 2000 and 2006 as JPMAM International’s internal communications manager, and more recently as an internal communications manager at KPMG. She has been with Mediapharm since April 2007.
