Our Story

The beginning…..
Fawz Farhan and Paul Lowndes started Mediapharm in 2001, after a combined 11 years between them of working at Chemist and Druggist (C&D) magazine and 25 years within the pharmacy sector.

As a pharmacist and technical editor at C&D, Fawz was responsible for managing Pharmacy Update - the magazine’s CPP-accredited continuing-education programme – and writing tutorials and other training packages. During that time, she forged a unique partnership between C&D and the Pharmacy Department at King’s College London, and became the first teacher-practitioner linked to a pharmacy magazine.  

Paul’s background is in commercial development in pharmacy and GP markets, and at C&D he gained an insight into the changes in pharmacy policy and the commercial implications for healthcare companies and pharmacy retailers.

The vision…..
Whilst at C&D they realised that pharmacy training was set to become more specialist, thanks to pharmacists’ increasing influence in healthcare, their expanding professional roles and continuing-professional-development obligations,

On setting up Mediapharm, their vision was to help pharma companies build brand loyalty by providing pharmacist customers with the best education, training and professional support services, adopting the medical-education formula that has been successfully used to engage GPs and nurses.

The achievements……
Since 2001, Mediapharm has grown by word of mouth and reputation. The team has worked on high profile pharmacy brands and some of the most-talked-about POM to P launches in recent years, achieving recognition at the OTC Marketing Awards, Pharmacy Business Awards and Communique Awards.

Clients value the unique pharmacy insight, knowledge and innovative writing that Mediapharm brings to projects, and pharmacists consistently rate the training Mediapharm produces above the rest.

The results are impressive. One brand launch achieved its entire 2006 sales target in the first month following a comprehensive Mediapharm pharmacy education and support programme.
