Medicines Stock Assistant Course

This course is accredited by GPhC. It prepares you to assist in managing pharmacy stock and provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to address the GPhC core outcomes for all support staff and technical knowledge and skills identified as required for the safe and effective performance of your role.

Standards
The course is equivalent to RQF Level 2 and covers the knowledge and understanding of the following National Occupational Standards (NOS):

PHARM12 – Order pharmaceutical stock
PHARM13 – Receive pharmaceutical stock
PHARM14 – Maintain pharmaceutical stock

    Introduction to Safeguarding

  3. Foundation Assessment
  4. Medicines Stock Assistant Role Specific Module and Assessment

Learning outcomes:

  • Follow correct process for ordering pharmacy stock
  • Control stock and maintain correct stock records
  • Receive, maintain and store stock correctly
  • Follow legislation related to pharmacy stock

Audience: Anyone who has started is currently working as an MCA and is required to take on stock handling duties, or anyone working solely with stock such as in a pharmacy warehouse.

Duration to complete: This programme will take around 5 hours to complete plus additional time to put learning into practice and complete the formal assessment. The duration to complete the programme is 1-3 months.
