Healthy Living Pharmacy: Alcohol

This course is aimed at helping the pharmacy team support and promote the pharmacy’s alcohol public health campaign. It includes a built in dashboard so you can track your team’s performance for compliance purposes.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Understand the detrimental effects of alcohol on health
• Prepare the pharmacy for the campaign with POS
• Promote the campaign messages to customers and patients so they are aware of how else the pharmacy can help
• Signpost customers to in-store resources such as leaflets

Duration

This course will take you approximately 10 minutes to complete. Any videos are additional and optional but have been included to accommodate different learning styles and to help enhance the learning.

Why is this course important? 

Consuming excessive alcohol is bad for health and can contribute to weight gain, cancers and social problems. Customers are not always aware of these risks or safe alcohol limits. The pharmacy is ideally placed to raise awareness of this with customers, give tips on how to reduce intake and signpost them to further help and advice. This course will prepare you to get on board with the mandatory national PSNC campaign and Dry January and deliver an alcohol awareness campaign to your community.
